Overview

We at AstroBeam are looking for a skilled and self motivated Technical Artist to take ownership of the visual effects, shaders, lighting, render pipeline, and more for our VR games. This role is meant to bridge the divide between art and programming. You need to understand how to create and maintain the artistic vision while dealing with technical constraints. While AstroBeam is based out of Austin, TX, this is a remote role within the US.

Responsibilities

  • Work with artists and programers to develop workflows and tools

  • Help analyze and maintain performance throughout project development

  • Create complex shaders, particle systems, and customize render pipelines

  • Be able to work across all art disciplines, as needed, from prototype to production

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a Technical Artist

  • Experience working in Unity Game Engine

  • Ability to write and optimize shaders

  • Ability to self-direct and be autonomous/flexible

  • Experience with 3D art pipelines and artist tools

  • Portfolio showcasing your technical skills

Bonus

  • Virtual Reality experience

  • Understanding of animation systems including character animation/rigging

  • Strong communication skills for working with a remote team

  • Experience writing Unity Editor tools

  • Previously shipped a multi-platform title

  • A wizard at a bit of everything in Unity
