What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on robotics/mechatronics engineer to join our team and help develop and advance a first-of-its-kind product for the cell/gene therapy field. The candidate will work closely in-person and remotely as part of the R&D team to design, iterate, and develop Cellular Vehicles’ product candidates towards pilot programs and regulatory submission and commercialization. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

· Design, build, and implement electromechanical robotic systems

· Develop and evaluate feedback systems and control algorithms.

· Bring prototypes up, assist in keeping them running and debugged.

· Develop and monitor metrics for measuring product performance.

· Designing (CAD) and prototyping devices (mechanical and electromechanical)

· Refining Design for Manufacturability

· Creating and managing component documentation.

· Developing test fixtures and environments to iterate and qualify product.

· Proactively identify and mitigate technical development risks.

· Executing formal verification and validation testing in accordance with quality system requirements

· Analyzing data and summarizing/presenting results to team members

What You’ll Bring

· MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering or related field (PhD preferred), or equivalent experience

· 5+ years of applied experience with robotic or automated systems

· Proficient in both C++ and Python

· Experience with system integration, development, and testing on physical robots

· Understanding of system from technical and user perspective

· Create specifications and requirements based on clinical and user inputs.

· Proficiency in CAD/Solidworks and rapid prototyping experience

· Proficient in robotics development (e.g. kinematics, dynamics, control theory, modelling, calibration, system characterization & identification)

· Experience with software engineering tools and best practices in production

· Ability to commute to our office in Palo Alto to work on physical robots

· Basic statistics/data analysis

· Highly organized, bringing a methodological, scientific approach to work

· Works independently and within a team

· Outstanding communication and leadership skills

Nice-to-haves

· Soup to nuts medical robotics development experience

· Hands-on experience prototyping and testing medical technology

· Knowledge of design for manufacturing basics/injection molding

· Knowledge of injection molding process/design, disposable medical device design, minimally invasive device design preferred.
