We design compensation at Foxglove to support talented people doing their best work. The posted range represents our standard pay band for this role. Actual compensation is tailored to each candidate based on current market benchmarks, experience, and location. Every job posting also highlights the benefits and resources we offer to help our teammates grow and feel supported.
Robotics will have a massive positive impact on the world economy and global human productivity over the coming decade. At Foxglove, we're excited for this future, and we're building powerful open source and commercial tools to accelerate it.
We're an experienced team of independent thinkers, with a passion for creating high quality products. We're looking for self-motivated and fast-learning individuals to join our mission.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Growth Engineer to join Foxglove and embed directly with our Growth team. In this role, you’ll own critical parts of the customer journey — from acquisition and onboarding to activation, monetization, and expansion — by building, iterating, and experimenting directly in the product.
This is not a “growth hacks” role. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, product, data, and design to identify leverage points, run experiments, and ship durable improvements that meaningfully impact user outcomes and revenue. You’ll balance speed with quality and short-term wins with long-term maintainability.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys ambiguity, cares deeply about product craft, and is energized by using data and experimentation to drive measurable results — without compromising trust, performance, or user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Own growth engineering efforts across key funnels, including onboarding, activation, upgrades, and expansion
Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Marketing to define growth strategy, hypotheses, and success metrics
Design, build, and iterate on experiments (A/B tests, feature flags, instrumentation) across the product
Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into pragmatic technical solutions and experiments
Improve time-to-value for new users, especially for highly technical, developer-focused audiences
Build and maintain growth infrastructure (experimentation frameworks, analytics hooks, feature gating)
Balance rapid iteration with scalable, maintainable, production-quality code
Debug funnel drop-offs and performance issues using data, logs, and user feedback
Share learnings from experiments to inform product direction and improve team decision-making
Advocate for engineering best practices, performance, accessibility, and reliability in growth surfaces
Location
We’re a small global company with team members primarily in the U.S. and Australia. We maintain Pacific Time hours and hire within ±4 hours of U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration.
This role is onsite in our San Francisco office, but we are open to remote for highly experienced candidates with prior experience at a leading robotics or autonomous vehicle company.
What we’re looking for
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to growth, product, or customer-facing work
Strong product instincts and the ability to reason about user behavior, funnels, and trade-offs
Experience building, shipping, and iterating on experiments in production systems
Comfort working across the stack (frontend-heavy, backend-heavy, or truly full-stack are all fine)
Ability to define success metrics, interpret results, and adjust direction based on data
Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating cross-functionally
Proven ability to thrive in fast-moving environments and take ownership from idea to impact
High standards for code quality, performance, and maintainability
Bonus points
Experience working on developer tools, technical products, or complex B2B platforms
Familiarity with analytics, experimentation platforms, or event-based data pipelines
Experience improving onboarding or monetization flows in self-serve or PLG products
Prior work in robotics, autonomy, or highly technical domains
Impact: Own growth at a fast-growing, high-leverage moment for the company.
Mission: Accelerate the development of the next generation of robotics and embodied AI.
Team: Work with world-class engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about open-source and developer tools.
Ownership: Drive initiatives end-to-end, with high autonomy and visibility.
Compensation Range: $215K - $235K
