🐶 Our mission

Every pet should get the care they need, regardless of cost. Vet med prices are up 40% since 2020, and pet owners are stuck having to pick between their bank account and furry friend. At Snout, we aim to solve this by enabling clinics to offer pet wellness plans, that actually work.

🚀 The opportunity

Snout has secured a $100M asset-backed lending facility to finance pet wellness receivables. We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer based remotely in the USA or preferably in New York City to design and scale the financial architecture behind this capital engine.

💻 The role

Snout is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team and help shape the future of a fast-growing, venture-backed fintech company in the veterinary space. This is not a traditional SaaS finance leadership role. This is a capital-intensive fintech model where unit economics, delinquency performance, and liquidity strategy directly determine growth velocity. You’ll report directly to the CEO and own the financial strategy, capital structure, and operating rigor that power the business.
At Snout, finance isn’t just about reporting and forecasting. It’s about helping design the future of our product, inform pricing and risk models, and influence how we scale. What makes this role unique is that you'll perform weekly portfolio reporting to an institutional lender, advance rate increases based on performance triggers, complete borrowing based math tied to receivable eligibility, work on structured credit dynamics in a consumer subscription wrapper and create a path to profitability with optional equity. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will build systems, design models, and elevate financial rigor — not simply manage an existing machine.
If you're part spreadsheet nerd, part strategic operator, and excited by the idea of building something new with a team that moves fast and thinks big – we’d love to talk.
Snout is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We know that great candidates may not check every box — and that’s okay. If you're excited about this role and our mission, we encourage you to apply if you meet at least 75% of qualifications including the first bullet. If you need any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know — we’re happy to support you.

🛠 What you’ll do

  • Develop the finance function from 0→1 (controller + strategic finance + accounting ops)
  • Lead the company’s financial planning and strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling:
    • Capital architecture
      • Covenant forecasting
      • Borrowing base modeling
    • Unit economics ownership
      • Design the KPI framework across utilization, bad debt, churn, and survivorship
    • Risk modeling
    • Liquidity strategy
  • Partner directly with the CEO on capital structure and long-term IPO readiness
  • Upgrade systems and reporting to institutional-grade standards
  • Build a lean and high performing team that leverages the power of AI technology

💡What we're looking for

  • 8–15 years progressive finance experience
  • Has owned cash forecasting under covenants
  • Has managed a warehouse/ABL/credit facility
  • Has built finance from 0→1
  • In-depth understanding of financial modeling, financial statements, and excel
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with an ability to think strategically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage various stakeholders
  • Someone who is happy working in a hybrid office position, is able to travel quarterly to our Troy, Michigan office and is located nearby an airport

🌟 What will make you stand out

  • Experience in the following:
    • Fintech (BNPL, consumer lending, payments, specialty finance)
    • Structured subscription businesses
    • Asset-backed credit or receivables financing environments
    • High-growth Series A–C companies
  • Having a self-starter or entrepreneurial background
  • Ownership and accountability, you don’t need a big team to make big things happen

💖 Why you should join Snout

  • Fast growing, venture capital backed technology company focused on improving access to veterinary care
  • Ability to have a meaningful impact from Day 1, where your voice and opinion matters

❌ Why this role might not be a fit for you

  • You are not based or legally authorized to work in the USA
