Position Description
Starfish has developed the Otter satellite servicing vehicle to provide life extension and end of life disposal services for satellites in LEO and GEO. To accomplish these missions, we are developing a number of software products and the underlying infrastructure to enable their ongoing development, testing, and deployment on Otters. This position will support the development of Starfish software and infrastructure, and relies heavily on software development skills. This role will collaborate with team members on a wide range of software tools spanning large scale cloud infrastructure, to processor-in-the-loop testing, to working with data from Starfish satellites, all to support our ongoing development efforts.

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
Willing to work from Tukwila, Washington
Engineering or sciences education or experience
Capable of working in a dynamic, fast paced startup environment
Capable of writing software
Available for a Summer 2026 internship (at least 10 weeks in length)

Desired Experience

Enrolled in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or similar degree program (undergraduate or Master’s / PhD)
Programming experience in Python and C++
Working knowledge of software development practices like object oriented programming, continuous integration, version control, and agile development
Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, or hardware/software interfaces
